The Circle and Community
Here in Australia, Iām particularly interested in the fact that Aborigines have a special relationship with the circle which to them symbolises and resembles many features in the natural world. For example, planet earth, the sun and the moon are all round.
The circle also represents equality; when people sit in a circle, no one member is elevated above another.
In a world characterised by so much competitiveness, individuality and isolation, traditional cultures, in particular their models for community, have much to teach us, specifically how we can best move forward and keep our eyes open to what really matters.
